God is a protector, and because man is made in His image, he should be a protector too. Psalm 91:2–4 says, “He is my defender and protector. … He will cover you with His wings; you will be safe in His care; His faithfulness will protect you and defend you.”

You should always feel a strong sense of safety and security with your man— always. You should never feel intimidated or feel it is necessary to walk on eggshells. Ask yourself, Is he a protector? Does he make every effort to keep me from harm and provide a covering under which I feel safe and secure? Am I afraid to be myself, share my thoughts, or oppose something he says or does? It may be time to reevaluate the relationship if you are unable to say with 100 percent certainty that he is a protector and that he actively protects your spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health.
