The first offspring of the Spirit is love. It is not a coincidence that love is our primary principle. The importance of love to God is clear throughout the Bible: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” (John 3:16); “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” (Mark 12:31); “Love does no harm to a neighbor” (Romans 13:10); and an all-time favorite, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7).

When you and your woman truly know and understand what love is, you desire to be better because Jesus is love. Love is the very foundation that every relationship, both professional and personal, should be based; it is the heart of everything. I pray that by the time you have finished reading this book, the Spirit will have moved in a mighty way and you will have a better understanding of what it means to love and be loved.
